Lisa Smith Bedwell has been invited to serve on the Reduced Rate Committee of the Collaborative Divorce Institute of Tampa Bay.
Many clients express interest in the Collaborative Divorce process, but due to the current construct (wherein each spouse must hire his and her own counsel, and share the costs for hiring a financial expert and (if there are children) a mental health professional), many of those same people are surprised at the cost, which scares them off investing in the process.
Nonetheless, it is clear to members of the Collaborative Divorce Institute of Tampa Bay that there is a need and demand to offer the full Interdisciplinary Collaborative Family Law experience to those who might not otherwise be able to afford it.
Similarly, there is need to spread awareness of collaborative family law alternative to those persons who might be interested in it as a means of reducing the costs associated with traditional divorce, which can still be a much more expensive proposition.
The Reduced Rate Committee is comprised of professionals in the area of law, finances, and mental health. They will begin meeting this fall.
